Kohtaus is a city living room operating in three locations in Helsinki. Founded in 2013, its main goal is to offer a space for building community and connection for young adults (aged 18-35) living in the city. In the Spring on 2026, Kohtaus merged with Leikkiväki Ry and started hosting a studio space Leikkis under its roof, which hosts clubs for hobbies and activities for the same demographic. This merger was a start to a new era and new visual identities for both the studio and living room were wanted to signal this change. I was the sole designer in charge of creating and executing both of these visual identities.

The visual identity of Kohtaus city living room illustrates the spaces goal to offer a place of community and belonging for young adults. Built around a recognisable symbol for the living room, the identity serves as a platform for collaboration and self expression for the living room and its visitors. Kohtaus is a place where you belong and you are invited to participate.

Meillä Kohtauksessa hehkutetaan yhteisöllisyyttä ja sitä, ettei kenenkään tarvitse jäädä yksin. On tärkeää löytää oma paikkansa, heimonsa ja jotain sellaista tekemistä, josta inspiroituu. Siksi on olemassa kaupunkiolohuoneet Helsingin Vallilassa ja Malmilla. Tervetuloa käymään ja tutustumaan ihmisiin ja osallistumaan tapahtumiin kun sulle sopii. Olohuoneet on tarkoitettu nuorille aikuisille.

The visual identity of Leikkis, the group studio located within the city living room embodies a playful and silly spirit. The visual language of the studio is built using surrealistic photography and illustration to emphasize the opportunity to take a break from your regular routine and find new hobbies and interests.

Part of the commission was to design a functional joint website for Kohtaus and Leikkis. As per the clients wishes, the website was designed and built by me in Squarespace.
